{"title":"Stephanie Weiner","description":"\u003cp\u003eMy printmaking often has social justice themes rooted in issues that I have participated in as an activist. This piece carries on with that tradition ! Both my parents were peace activists. My mother published the book Peace is You and Me in 1971. That year, my father’s name was proudly included in Nixon’s Hate List . While in high school, I participated in disarmament protests outside the UN, and later Livermore Labs and Omaha Offut Base.This series of linoleum and woodcarved prints is inspired by my experiences leafleting at the Trinity Site gate with the Tullarosa Basin Downwinders Consortium. The movie First We Bombed New Mexico influenced me to show the clothes hanging on the line, and the fields of food being contaminated. Most of all, it was the Paul Pino song at the end of the film that pushed me to make this print. I felt that the chorus was speaking directly to me to come help. Imagine my excitement that at the next event, we went to the Pino Ranch in Carrizozo for a dance after-party !\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMy prints appear in the book Celebrate People’s History , on my own website, and the JustSeeds website . Other prints are part of the permanent collection and travelling show with The Center for the Study of Political Graphics. My art was in the Arts Thrive Show at the Albuquerque Museum.
