Lapine Manifesto: Anne Steen

Artist's Statement:
This body of work represents a start.
These prints have been created over for the past couple of years, since I took my first class here at Remarque.
That class opened my mind to new ways to express how I see the world, from the granular texture of a sand dollar to the sweeping colors of a sunset to the shapes and visual rhythm of the center of a flower.
As I learn new printing techniques and hone my skills, I am experimenting with image-making methods that challenge me to pivot from my background in photography to more gestural, organic, hand-drawn forms.
I look forward to the journey ahead.
Thank you to the folks at Remarque, from my instructors to my comrades, and thank you to my family, who have been supportive of the many hours I spend at the studio.
