New Mexico Printmaking Invitational
April 9th - May 29, 2021
This exhibition is a showcase of the incredible amount of talent and diversity in New Mexico's printmaking community. Our inspiration for this show came from a desire to unite the sometimes disparate printmaking scene in New Mexico -- despite how many printmakers there are in our state, we rarely get to see all these artists' works side by side. We've found that displaying these works together brings out some common themes - the very distinctive New Mexico color palette of warm yellows, reds and tans mixed with deep blues; the birds and plants that define our region; depictions of the dusty landscapes and adobe walls found throughout the state. However, the exhibition also showcases the differences between all these prints - some are bold and abstract, others subtle and objective. Some suggest a feeling, others tell a narrative. Together, these pieces capture a snapshot of current art in New Mexico, which has remained vibrant and alive despite all the challenges of the past year.
Please Note: Many of the pieces in this show are no longer for sale in our gallery. However, if you are interested in one of these prints, please contact us and we will see if the artist still has the work available for purchase.
