We'll begin at Remarque Print Workshop with a one-hour introduction to materials, portable studio setup, and Megan Morgan's simple method for creating painterly monoprints without a press. We'll then carpool to the beautiful Albuquerque BioPark Botanic Garden (admission not included: $10 for New Mexico residents \/ $14.50 for non-residents), where we'll spend the afternoon painting directly from nature, gathering color studies, textures, and compositions inspired by the landscape. Students may continue painting from reference photos or use Remarque’s back garden as inspiration for more prints. Megan will demonstrate printing on a variety of papers—from delicate rice and mulberry papers to soaked printmaking papers such as Arches 88—and discuss how different papers, printing methods, and pressure affect the final image. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Megan moved to Fort Collins, Colorado with her family in 1986. Megan graduated from Colorado State University in 1995 with a B.F.A. in Fine Art – Graphic Design. Megan worked as a junior designer at the prestigious Monigle Associates agency in Denver, CO before moving to Steamboat Springs in 1998 to fulfill a lifelong dream of rocky mountain living.  Megan opened Strange Bird Designs as her small graphic design studio in 1999 working with many clients within the Steamboat Springs resort community.
