This versatile technique is perfect for illustrators who would like to make multiple handmade editions of their drawings. Students will draw on mylar using stabilo pencils or brushwork with tuche. These drawings on mylar will be exposed to photopolymer plates which can then be printed like any form of intaglio. Mary will also explore using monotype and chine collé in conjunction with the drawing to create a final print.
Photopolymer intaglio, also known as photogravure, can replicate the subtle tonal values of the original drawing. Photogravure was introduced in the 1800's as a way to produce photographic prints and has been revived with the availability of non-toxic photopolymer plates.
This class is a great opportunity for experienced and beginning printmakers alike!
