Intermediate Letterpress: printing linocuts
In this intermediate letterpress class, students will take an active role in setting up the press to print. The emphasis of the class is on the planning and technical execution of a creative project. We will begin the day planning the basic layout of our prints, carve linoleum blocks, and then move to the press. Students will be guided through locking up the chase, placing guides on the platen, and proofing until everything is just right.
Students should have taken Remarque’s Introduction to Letterpress class or have comparable experience. No experience with linocuts is required.
The class fee includes a 5 × 7 mounted linoleum block and paper for one edition of 15 prints. If time allows, materials for additional editions may be purchased. The press will have black ink on it for the day.
Saturday, May 27, 10- 5 pm (with lunch break)
$130 (includes materials)
