Saturday & Sunday, July 14 & 15, 2018
Join Harvey Award-nominated artist Michael Ellis for this exploration into what makes comics such a powerful medium for both visual art and storytelling. We will look behind the panels into the medium to learn how comics work and what distinguishes it from other forms of visual art and storytelling.
We will create our own comic stories, learning the basics of cartooning, panel and page design, as well as techniques for constructing and reproducing our comics. We will explore abstraction as it applies to sequential art and learn how to develop vibrant characters that inhabit rich worlds. Previous experience with cartooning is not necessary.
