- Intro to Soft Ground Etching
Intro to Soft Ground Etching
In this one day class you will explore soft ground etching with experienced etcher and printmaker Pam Wesolek. This unique form of copper etching involves coating a copper plate with a soft acid-resistant wax. Impressions are then made in the wax by pressing leaves or found objects into it, or by drawing with various tools. This method creates rich textures and patterns, and can be used on its own to create prints with delicate lines and object impressions, or in combination with other etching forms such as hard ground and aquatint. Softground etching is a great technique for anyone who loves experimentation, and no prior etching experience is necessary!
