Intro to Woodcut
In this introductory class, artists will learn about the art of relief printmaking and the unique challenges and remarkable advantages of carving wood. Woodcuts have a remarkable history dating back over 1,700 years, and have maintained relevance because of the beautiful, energetic, graphic qualities of the images they produce. Students will learn how to plan images for relief prints, how to carve and print a one-layer woodcut, and how to manipulate the physical and graphic effects of the woodgrain. All materials included.
