One-day workshop
In this one-day introductory class we will explore the many possibilities of the Collagraph print. Collagraphs are beautiful, often experimental prints made from collaging textured items onto a matboard or similar surface, then sealing it and applying inks to print it onto paper. Textured materials such as textiles, netted orange bags, corrugated cardboard, bubble wrap, string or other fibers, cut card, leaves and grass, and so on! The collagraph plate can then be intaglio-inked or treated as a relief print and inked with a roller or paintbrush or some combination thereof, allowing for a great range of printing options. The resulting print is termed a collagraph.
This is a very inexpensive, flexible and rewarding technique that results in rich, textured prints. This class is suitable for anyone interested in expanding their printmaking repertoire- no experience necessary, but certainly a great technique for any printmaker to incorporate into their work. Collagraphs can be easily combined with other techniques such as monotype and gravure, or stand proudly alone.
