Introduction to Copper Etching
Two Day Workshop
The amazingly versatile printmaker Pam Wesolek brings a beautiful 500-year-old artistic tradition to life in this intensive 2-day workshop. We will learn to create fine line etchings like those of Rembrandt and Dürer, and luscious, shaded aquatints like those seen in the etchings of Francisco Goya. However, unlike the printmaking methods used by the old masters, this technique is entirely non-toxic!
In this workshop, students will learn to prepare copper plates, coat them with hardground, and etch and print them. Etching is an excellent medium for anyone with a drawing background who would like to expand their tool set. This workshop is open to those who are just beginning, or to those who are interested in learning new non-toxic methods of etching.
