Work in studio with a Master Printer to create a Serigraph Edition
This advanced workshop will focus on the creation and print production of a serigraph (silkscreen) edition. Working together and on your own, everyone will explore the versatility of the media, expand your knowledge of print production and complete a print edition. Since we will spend two days concentrating on advanced print techniques, developing and executing print runs we recommend a strong working knowledge of the screenprint processes and the Remarque studio facility. Come prepared with ideas to dive into your project!
The workshop was specifically developed for the creator / artist / printer to immerse themselves into a serigraph print edition project. Each participant will have the opportunity to work directly with a Master Printer to plan, prepare and execute an edition print run. Each participant will create their own artwork/stencil, prepare and process their own screens to be print ready. During the two days everyone will work together and assist as necessary on the projects.
Workshop will cover:
• Advanced color mixing techniques and ink systems, Process color and CMYK
• Methods for multiple color printing, registration
• Large format printing - 22” x 30” plus
• Economy of screen usage
• Deep cleaning screens
• Working with a client / artist, edition size, numbering, artist’s proof, printer's proof
• Printing on other substrates
Screenprinted posters and books will be available for review. A share back discussion will happen at the end to chat about the work created, experiences and address any questions. A print exchange for all participants will be encouraged.
