What's in a Mark: an Exhibition of Prints Based on Mark-Making
September 4th - 30th, 2020
This exhibition brings together eight artists whose work share a common thread -- the expressive act of mark making. Each artist has created original hand-pulled prints using personal ‘signatures’ consisting of lines, dots, patterns, and textures in depicting their subject matter. The artists have chosen to approach their work through either playful exploration, methodical repetition, or a combination of both. The resulting images range from the spontaneous and intuitive, to controlled and precise marks on paper. They are intriguing records of intense interaction and aesthetic manipulation with the varied tools and processes of dry point etching, monotype, gravure, encaustic monoprint, and mixed media.
This exhibition features artwork by Krista Barrett, Christine Herman, Chuck Lathrop, Suzanne Marshall, Trish Meyer, Mary Sundstrom-Gramer, Dan Welden, and Pamela Wesolek.
