Challenge convention and take chances in this advanced monotype workshop that explores the rich intersection between painting and printmaking.
The class begins with an investigation into watercolor monoprinting in which students print from watercolor painting on Yupo paper, water-soluble crayon drawings and plastic and paper stencils. We then learn to incorporate Akua Intaglio inks with transparency as well as various texturing and drypoint line work techniques to create one-of-a-kind prints that are bold and luminescent. The workshop covers a wide range of techniques from stencil printing to trace monotype.
By the end of the course you develop a facility for using both Akua inks and water-based materials in the same print and understand the benefits of each. In this class passionate monotype artist, Mary Sundstrom Gramer will challenge you to explore and experiment in your own creations.
