Collage artist Terry Garrett will guide you through a fun day of exploring mixed media collage. Terry has been making collages since the late 90s, he is also an art journaler and printmaker. Collage and printmaking led naturally to book-making in which he makes use of collage techniques. Terry’s personal collage work is often narrative in nature, meaning he often tells stories in his work. He will encourage students to develop ideas for building their own personal visual vocabulary, and will guide them through some fast and fun composition exercises.
There are many ways to make collages and in this class he will show different techniques to consider. There will be lots of materials will be provided, as well as different substrates upon which to build the collages. participants are welcome to bring materials, especially unresolved prints that need to be repurposed.
You can see Terry's work on Instagram @terrygarrett763 and at whisperwoodartworks.blogspot.com
