Step back to the dawn of photography in this hands-on workshop. You’ll begin by creating a cyanotype (blue) print, then transform it into a full-color image by layering yellow and magenta gum bichromate prints. Both processes date to the mid-19th century and are enjoying a revival as artists explore alternatives to digital printing.
The class covers the materials and techniques for both methods. By the end, you’ll complete two full-color prints from your own photographic image. On Day 2, you’ll also mix a custom color for a one-color gum bichromate print and/or create an additional cyanotype on a variety of papers.
Warning: this process is incredibly fun—and addictive!
