Old Masters, New Tricks: Non-Toxic Etching
Ever wanted to make prints like the old masters—without the old-school toxins? Join printmaker Henry Jackson for a lively, hands-on two-day workshop that puts a fresh, modern spin on a 500-year-old art form.
You’ll learn how to create beautiful, fine-line etchings inspired by legends like Dürer, Rembrandt, Manet, and Degas, then dive into an easy, user-friendly aquatint technique that adds moody shadows and rich texture worthy of Goya. Classic results, contemporary methods.
From polishing copper plates to drawing into hardground, etching, and pulling your own prints, you’ll experience the true magic of the etching process—ink-stained hands included. Etching is a fantastic playground for anyone who loves to draw and wants to try something new, whether you’re a total beginner or a seasoned artist curious about non-toxic printmaking.
Bring along a couple of images you’d like to transform into etchings, and get ready to experiment, learn, and leave with prints you’ll be excited to show off.
