Lego Letterpress printmaking is an introduction to relief printing techniques that is suitable for all ages! This type of relief printmaking is beginner friendly and does not need prior knowledge of print.
Artists use flat smooth tiles fixed to a base plate to create interesting patterns and designs. After finalizing the base plate, the plate is then rolled with either a printmaking ink and brayer, or stamp pad ink to cover the plate in a small layer of pigment. Once the inking is finished, the artist can then run the plate through a traditional printing press, or hand print it using a wooden spoon to burnish the paper onto the plate. The final image is a pixelated image, or text.
