Polaroid Emulsion Lifts! (Jan. 24)

If you missed it the first time, here it is again! Join us for fun afternoon of analog photography! Polaroid Emulsion lifts are back and cooler than ever. In our brand new workshop you will learn how to take apart a Polaroid, distort, and place the image on another surface creating a unique print. No Polaroid camera is necessary, instead participants will use a digital to Polaroid transfer via phone app. Plain paper and a small sheet of glass are provided, but Polaroids can be transferred to a variety of surfaces including darkroom processed photos and pre-printed or painted paper. Each student will get to make three emulsion lifts. 

Feel free to bring an old photo, painted watercolor paper, or ceramic tile to experiment with! Please don’t bring a digital inkjet print or anything that has ink that will run if wet. If you have extra Polaroids sitting around that are the new I-type film, feel free to bring those, too. Please leave cherished Polaroids from pre-2014 at home as the interior film chemistry has changed and it will not work with this process. Each student will email the instructor a photo prior to class so she can prepare one photo to start with.

Cost: $105 + tax (note the film and materials cost is higher than usual for this process, so the price is slightly elevated)
